- Leaven is used in the bible as the principle behind both positive and negative
veiled growth. Examples are that Jesus told His disciples to beware of the leaven
of the Pharisees, (of the doctrine that they spread). Here the kingdom is also seen
as being stimulated and grown through the principal of leaven. Working quietly and
having an influence on all that it comes in contact with until the whole loaf is
leavened. Thus, if we allow the kingdom to grow and work within us, it will have
a prevailing influence in our lives.
- The parable speaks of three measures of meal until the whole, (all three measures)
were leavened. This can be applied to us having a three part make up, (spirit, soul
and body), 1st Thessalonians 5:23. Inferring that all three parts need to be rooted
and nourished in God's Word until all three parts work in unison with each other and
we become completely whole.
