The Holy Spirit, our teacher, counselor and helper, the third person of the trinity.
In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit was given to people for a time or to do a
certain job. The Psalmist David said; Cast me not away from
Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me,
Psalm 51:11.
Jesus operated in the Spirit in His earthly ministry.
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee. And a report went out
throughout all the neighborhood concerning Him,
Luke 4:14.
When Jesus was crucified, He sent out the Spirit.
In all four gospels, at the crucifixion Jesus breathed His last and gave up the ghost. When Jesus had cried again with a loud voice, He yielded up the
ghost, Matthew 27:50. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost,
Mark 15:37. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father,
into thy hands I commend My spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost,
Luke 23:46. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is
finished: and he bowed His head, and gave up the ghost,
John 19:30.
Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until the Spirit comes to them, this shows
the importance of the Holy Spirit. And, behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you: but tarry
ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high,
Luke 24:49. But, ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon
you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria,
and unto the uttermost part of the earth, Acts 1:8.
On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit was given to men.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire,
and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to
speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance,
Acts 2:3.
We are sealed with the Holy Spirit. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with
that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 1:13. And make not sorrowful the Holy Spirit of God, in which ye were
sealed to a day of redemption, Ephesians 4:30.
The love of God becomes made known to us through the Holy Spirit. And hope does not make us ashamed, because the love of God has
been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us,
Romans 5:5.
The Holy Spirit dwells in us. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy
Spirit which dwells in us.
2nd Timothy 1:14. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1st Corinthians 6:19.
Therefore, the thing that we need to do is, first, to ask Jesus for the baptism of the Holy Spirit
: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Luke 11:13.
then you need to: But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Spirit, Jude 1:20.
