I, (John the Baptist), indeed baptize
you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose
sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire,
Matthew 3:11.
But Jesus answered and said, You do not know
what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with
the baptism that I am baptized with? They, (John & James,
His disciples), said to Him, "We are able." So He said to them,
You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with;
but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for
whom it is prepared by My Father, Matthew 20:22-23.
He said to them, Go into all the world and
preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but
he who does not believe will be condemned,
Mark 16:15-16.
And they, (the Pharisees), asked him,
(John the Baptist), saying, Why then do you baptize if you are
not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet? John answered them, saying, I baptize with
water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. It is He who, coming after me,
is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose,
John 1:25-27.

He commanded them, (the 12 disciples),
not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, which, He said,
you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you
shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now,
Acts 1:4-5.
Then Peter said to them, (the Jews & the
Gentiles), "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,
Acts 2:38.
when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning
the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized,
Acts 8:12-13.
For as yet He, (the Holy Spirit), had
fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit,
Acts 8:16-17.
the eunuch said, See, here is water. What hinders me from being
baptized? Then Philip said, If you believe with all your heart, you may. And he answered
and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God,

The apostle Paul's conversion: Immediately there fell from his
eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was
baptized, Acts 9:18.
The conversion of the gentiles at Cornelius's house: Then Peter
answered, Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received
the Holy Spirit just as we have? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name
of the Lord, Acts 10:46-48.
Peter's explanation to the other disciples, concerning Acts 10:46-48 (above):
Then I remembered the Word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed
baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit,
Acts 11:16.
Paul said, John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance,
saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is,
on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus
, Acts 19:4-5.
do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ
Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism
into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in
the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His
resurrection, Romans 6:3-5.
Apostles Paul's rebuke to the Corinthians: Is Christ divided?
Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I
baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, lest anyone should say that I had baptized
in my own name. Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know
whether I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me to baptize,
1st Corinthians 1:13-17.
all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea,
all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
1st Corinthians 10:1-2.
For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether
Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit
