17And coming down with them, He stood on a level place.
And a crowd of His disciples, and a great multitude of people from all Judea and
Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon (who came to hear Him and to be
healed of their diseases) were there;
18also those tormented by unclean spirits; and they were
healed.
19And all the crowd sought to touch Him, for power went
out of Him and healed them all. MKJV |

- The background of this is that Jesus was coming down from a mountain after choosing
His twelve disciples. The events of the past were that the fame of Him went through
many regions and that the religious leads were now concerned and even fearful of His ministry.
So it could be said that Jesus' ministry had now been fully established.
- For people from all countries followed and came to Jesus, even willing to leave the
safety and security of their own lands and homes. For the city of Tyre was a fortified
city and Sidon was an independent and prosperous city. However the draw that Jesus had
was greater, as He taught them about the kingdom and healed them.
- The passage also speaks about those tormented by unclean spirits being healed.
Linking the need for healing (either physically or emotionally) with being tormented by
unclean spirits.
