And Pharisees and teachers of the Law were sitting by, who had come out of every

- The power of the Lord was present to heal the Pharisees and
teachers of the law, implying that they had need to be healed.
But, the Pharisees preferred to sit around finding fault with Jesus.
Healing is also a matter of the heart.
- This background Scripture is found only in Luke's Gospel and it precedes
the healing of the paralytic that is recorded in
three Gospels, (Matthew, Mark and Luke).
