Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law of a fever.

14And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother laid out and in a fever. 15And He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.

30But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and at once they told Him about her. 31And He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. And instantly the fever left her, and she served them.

38And rising up from the synagogue, He entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was being seized with a great fever. And they asked Him for her. 39And standing over her, He rebuked the fever. And it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.

Insights
  • Peter's mother-in-law was healed by a touch, only in Luke's account were words spoken over her. When you carry an anointing, healing power or whatever is required can be transmitted through the laying on of hands or other means. In the book of Acts; Peter's shadow healed people, Acts 5:12. also handkerchiefs from the Apostle Paul were used to heal the sick, Acts 19:11.
  • In both Mark's & Luke's gospel, they informed Jesus of the healing need. At times we need to make our request known to Jesus, "we have not because we ask not", James 4:2.
  • She showed gratitude to God. After the fever left her and she served them. Giving thanks, is very important! Scripture speaks much about giving thanks, "Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ, 2nd 2:14a.
