Mark 1:23-27 Luke 4:33-37
23And in their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24saying, What is to us and to You, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know You, who You are, the Holy One of God. 25And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be quiet, and come out of him. 26And the unclean spirit, convulsing him, and crying with a loud voice, he came out of him. 27They all were amazed, so as to question among themselves, saying, What is this? What new doctrine is this? For He even commands the unclean spirits with authority, and they obey Him.

 33And in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon and cried out with a loud voice, 34saying, Let us alone! What is to us and to You, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know You, who You are, the Holy One of God. 35And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be quiet and come out of him! And when the demon had thrown him into the midst, he came out of him, not harming him. 36And they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, What a word is this! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out. 37And a report about Him went out into every place of the neighborhood.

Insights
  • The man was in the synagogue not expecting a healing, simply going through his daily or weekly ritual. But when Jesus shows up, when the power of God is present, the life that we live in the flesh sometimes gets disturbed.
  • When the man saw Jesus, the unclean spirits within him were disturbed and cried out, Let us alone! What have we to do with You? Did You come to destroy us? The demons know God Mark 1:34, Luke 4:41, carnal man does not know God, Matthew 16:16.Only the spirit within us can know God's Spirit.
  • The people marvelled because of the authority Jesus operated in. Jesus knew His identity that He was the Son of God and the Son of Man, we are now called son's of God, 1st John 3:1 and if we truly know our identity we can operate in this same anointing.
